Preschool Grant Submitted By District 205
District 205 officials are attempting to accelerate their original Master Facilities Plan and expand upon the Lincoln Education Center now thanks to the availability of a new grant.

Monday night the board of education approved a grant application prepared by Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill.

Cahill says the district is in a prime position to receive the maximum gift of 5-million dollars.

"We believe on the strength of the application that we are submitting the do-dilligence we have done and put into that application, at least on paper we should rise to the top," Cahill said. "Whether we fit into the larger metric of need and some of the other evaluative criteria, we'll learn."

"But, if not for this cycle, any potential future cycle, should they have them, we'll be in a good position for them."

Cahill says the preschool plans call for adding two wings of five classrooms each, and also providing a permanent home for orphan children of the district.

The total cost for the addition amounts to just over 7.5 million dollars. Cahill says if the grant is earned, the balance would be covered by the site and construction fund and other bonds.
