Share-a-Thon Exceeds Goal
One of the big annual fundraisers for the Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter has once again proven to be successful.

The annual Harvest Time Share-a-Thon, as broadcast Saturday on WGIL, raised just over 47-thousand dollars for the Rescue Mission, exceeding their goal, but only slightly less than last year.

Jerry Fields of Peoria says he's greatly benefitted from the Rescue Mission's work, and tells WGIL his life had no purpose before he ended up there.

"A life has been redeemed and saved from a life that wss spinning out of control and reckless," Fields said. "It was a point where I had no where to go, and I'm very grateful when I go there and I still remember the man working there who led me to the Lord and prayed with me. It was a life changing moment."

Fields still comes back to Galesburg to help lead worship services at the local church he attends as an elder, and now works for a company that contracts with Caterpillar.

He says he was ashamed of the life he was leading, but not ashamed to tell people he lived at the Rescue Mission, because it helped re-shape his life.
