Budget Dominates City Council Agenda
Items related to the City of Galesburg budget will be all over Monday night's Galesburg City Council meeting agenda.

The city holds a public hearing on the city and township budgets Monday at 6pm. The public will get to comment at that time on the city's spending plan.

In the meeting itself, aldermen will consider an increase in water rates that the city says continues to move toward flattening the rate structure.

A proposed property tax levy, a increase in the telecommunications tax, and even a proposed water deposit that didn't seem to meet favorably with aldermen a few weeks ago, will still be up for consideration.

A number of the items will be on first reading, while others like the utility bill deposit proposal will be on final reading.

The Galesburg City Council meeting begins at 6:30pm, also inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.

The Fiscal Year 2012 budget will likely be voted on next month. The fiscal year starts in January.
