Knoxville Considers Video Gaming Ordinance
First the liquor ban was lifted, next an adult use ordinance was drafted, and now video gaming is being discussed in the city of Knoxville.

Video poker, lineup, and blackjack are among the considerations for the community and economic development committee.

Knoxville's Attorney Rob McCoy says the machines could be placed where liquor is sold, or at truck stops sitting on three acres of land that sells 10-thousands gallons of diesel fuel.

The question McCoy has for committee is whether they want an ordinance disallowing video gaming pay outs.

"Take no action it just means they can get licensed by the state, it allows for them to then pay out," he said. "The state collects revenue and then reimburses a portion of that revenue to the local communities."

Acting Mayor Bernadine Fleischer asks McCoy to clarify.

"So we would recieve revuen even though we've taken no action," she asked McCoy.

"You would recieve revenue even if you take no action," McCoy said.

Alderman worry though that if an ordinance is drafted prohibiting the pay outs, money will still exchange hands under the table.

The committee will next seek the public's stance on the issue.
