Grocery Store: GREDA's First Order Of Business In Knoxville
The city of Knoxville has officially turned GREDA lose on bringing more businesses to the area.

Knoxville's Community and Economic Development Committee prepared a list for the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association this week.

The number one priority for the committee in developing the city's economics, a grocery store, but alderman Rob Derham has some reservations.

"It's tough, there's not much gross in it," Derham said. "You got to go back to customer service and get the right people to work, and if you don't have that it's not going to work."

Also on the list for GREDA to explore include County Road-10 extension, a lift station, and various restaurants.

Alderman Jim McGovern says he thinks a "fun city" type of place would, quote, "fly," if the right person is willing to invest.

"Those types of places to me provide less expensive entertainment to families than a Disney World or other amusement park," McGovern said. "I think that's something we're all leaning towards, trying to be more efficient in saving our money."

GREDA and Knoxville agreed to a one-year service agreement that began November 1st. The city is paying GREDA 2-thousand dollars for the year.
