Major Administrative Openings in District 205
There will be a lot of change in the Galesburg School District in the coming school year, and not just because of work that will begin under the new Master Facilities Plan.

District-205 Superintendent Gene Denisar says in addition to this past week's announced resignation of Galesburg High School Principal Tom Chiles so he can become a superintendent at Lena-Winslow, and in addition to the retirement of Assistant Principal Steve Eismann, a number of other district administrative positions will become vacant.

Denisar tells WGIL several other principals and front office administrators are leaving.

"Ellen Spittell, the principal at Gale [Elementary School], is retiring at the end of this [school] year, and that position is already posted," Denisar said. "John Shelley, the principal at Silas Willard, is retiring at the end of this year, and that position is already posted. Susan Crawford, Director of Special Education Services, at the end of this year, she is retiring and we've already posted that position."

Denisar says in addition, Joel Estes is retiring from his role as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and Churchill Junior High Principal Bart Arthur will be replacing him, making open the vacancy at Churchill as well.

Denisar says it may seem unusual to have so many openings, but he feels the district will have success in filling them.
