Chamber of Commerce Sends Letter To Congress
The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce has once again joined forced with Chambers of Commerce around the nation urging Congress to work together to prevent the U.S from falling off the Fiscal Cliff.

This is the second letter to Congress the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce has signed and Executive Director for the Chamber Steven Brody tells WGIL this time the letter is focused on Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security and how there are more people using those social programs than there are people paying into them.

"We are an aging population and we're not keeping up in terms of fertility rates so as the population grows and ages, putting more people into the pool for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, there's not enough people to fund the program," says Brody.

Brody says this problem needs to be dealt with at the federal level.

He says this problem adds more strain on the economy. More than two-hundred Chamber of Commerce from across the nation signed the letter to Congress.
