Two Arrested Following Rural Meth Bust
Two Knox County residents are under arrest after sheriffs deputies say they discovered a chemical used in making methamphetamine in the vehicle they were in.

The Knox County Sheriffs Department says 35-year old Craig Fox of Wataga, and 52-year old Kevin Smith Abingdon were arrested following a traffic stop on Thanksgiving night on a rural Knox County road south of Abingdon.

Officials say a deputy investigating the two after Smith was found to be wanted on a Mercer County warrant detected an odor coming from the vehicle, and discovered a tank believed to be containing anhydrous ammonia, along with a second container that had a white substance allegedly in it.

Smith and Fox both are being charged with Possession of Meth-Manufacturing Materials, Participation in Meth Production, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, and Transportation of Anhydrous Ammonia.

Fox also faces a charge of Criminal Damage to Government Property. The two are being held in the Knox County Jail pending future court appearances.

Both have been convicted before on felony drug charges, according to court records.
