Discovery Depot Preparing Trees
The 13th Annual Festival of Trees put on by the Discovery Depot will be held tonight in Galesburg.

The Children's Museum auctions off trees of all kinds, decorated in many different styles, including a "wine" tree.

Wreaths and other decorating items will also be for sale at the event.

Executive Director at the Depot Denise Brandburn tells the WGIL morning news that the funds earned through the auction go to help fund the museum.

"This is our largest fundraising event of the year. It helps to off set operational coast of the Depot. It helps with bringing some of our, we have some really great programs going on right now and that helps off set the cost so that those programs are affordable for families of the community."

Brandburn says there is also plenty of other holiday shopping, including gift baskets and gym memberships for family and friends.

Depot Representatives said that when they started, trees were exclusively the items for sale. Now, houses in the State of Florida are also up for auction.

Bradburn went on to say this year's festival will be spent remembering a former MC for the event, Mike Cratty -who died of a heart attack this year.
