Students Get A Little Career Advice
About 30 or so Galesburg High School students attended an employment panel put on by the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Knox-Warren Transition Planning Committee.
Students listened to five employers speak about their careers and the path it took to get them there.
Potential employers told students what each job required including the educational paths students might want to look into to be successful.
G-H-S Sophomore Demetrius Turner tells WGIL he found the panel very informative and now has a better idea of what paths are best for the career he's interested in.
"It actually made me think of what school to go to," Turner said. "It made me think of what are the best classes for me to take for me to help the elderly."
Turner says he's going to look into job shadowing at either Marigold Rehab and Health Care or Head Start.
He says next year he plans on participating in the Job Search program at G-H-S to help him decided what career fits him best.
