Monmouth Mayor Wants Another Term
Monmouth's top elected official is taking credit for a number of improvements made to the Maple City since he's been in office, and is using them to announce he's running for another term.

Mayor Rod Davies recently announced through a press release that he's seeking a third term in office.

Davies, having first been elected mayor in 2005, says he's worked with city staff and the council to move Monmouth "through the worst economic times since the Great Depression."

He cites 120 million dollars in new investment in the city since he took office, ranging from a new Walgreens store to the expansion of the Farmland Foods plant, among other things.

He says success has come to the city at a time when other communities are raising taxes and cutting jobs.

Davies -- a Monmouth native and Monmouth College graduate -- is a partner in a local accounting firm.

He so far has no opposition. The mayor and half the city council are among the seats up for election in April.
