Fire Damages Holton Street Residence
posted 10:02 am 12/12/8

Galesburg authorities are investigating a fire Thursday night that caused damage to a residence on Holton Street.

Officials say firefighters were dispatched to 216 Holton Street just after 8 p-m and arrived to find light smoke showing and a glow inside a window on the first level of the two-story home.

Fire crews brought the fire under control in less than 10 minutes. Officials say damage was limited to the portion of the room where the fire was discovered, and there was smoke throughout the residence. No dollar amount of the damage is available at this time. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Officials with the city say the house was a recently vacated rental that still had both electrical and gas service. Nobody was hurt.
