Weather Not a Factor in Fatal Warren County Accident
An Iowa man is dead as the result of an accident late Monday morning near the Knox/Warren County Line.

State Police in Macomb say the crash happened on Illinois Route 164 in Warren County, roughly a quarter-mile west of the county line, around 10:55am.

Troopers say a mini-van driven by 48-year old Mark Tangeo of Cedar Rapids was headed east-bound down 164, when it somehow crossed the center-line and struck head-on a semi tractor driven by 65-year old Percy Hall of Monmouth. Both Hall and Tangeo were taken to OSF Saint Mary Medical Center. Tangeo was pronounced dead, while Hall received only minor injuries.

Troopers say an investigation is continuing, but they do NOT believe the accident was weather-related, despite extremely slick roads all morning long Monday. They're also not saying what was the cause of the crash if it wasn't weather, since both drivers were wearing seat belts.

There is no indication that any tickets have been issued in connection to the accident.
