No Special Election for Obama's Senate Seat
It looks as if there will not be a special election after all to find a new U.S. senator. The Democrats who control the Illinois House will not call a bill that would set up the election.

House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) says the Democrats are divided on what to do -- and cost is an issue. Republicans say another point is that an election would give their party a shot at getting a U.S. senator.

The U.S. Senate has said it will not seat an appointee of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is now accused of trying to sell the seat once held by President-elect Barack Obama. It's now possible Blagojevich will be impeached.
