Impeachment Committee Starts -- Then Stops -- Work on Day One
Gov. Rod Blagojevich wants to be represented at the Illinois House committee investigating impeachment. Well-known criminal defense lawyer Ed Genson is expected to appear Wednesday.

At Tuesday's opening day of the committee hearings, State Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), the chairman, also announced that the committee had been in contact with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and would probably not be hearing from witnesses with whom Fitzgerald wants to speak. What's more, Currie said the inquiry will look not only into last week's federal complaint but also plea agreements by Blagojevich associates Ali Ata and Joe Cari, and the governor's purchase of foreign flu vaccines.

The hearings resume at 11 am Wednesday.
