LaHood Picked for Cabinet Post
POSTED: 4:50pm 12/17/08 A retiring Congressman whose district covers a portion of Knox County won't have to leave Washington any time soon, according to sources.

CNN and The Associatd Press are both reporting that 18th District Congressman Ray LaHood will be President-Elect Barack Obama's Cabinet pick for Transportation Secretary.

Transportation Secretary would be one of the last cabinet picks Obama would have to make, and like the others, it's pending approval.

While it's not been formally announced yet, "Ray LaHood is a good friend, a solid member of our congressional delegation, and would would make a fine addition to any administration," said Andy McKenna, Illinois Republican Party Chairman, in a prepared statement.
