Serven Nominated by Knox GOP Committee
A vacant seat on the Knox County Board could soon be filled by a man who ran unsuccessfully for the job in November.

David Serven is the unanimous choice of the Knox County Republican Central Committee to replace former county board member Steven Johnson, who resigned earlier this month after a six-year run. Committee chairman Marc Young says the Republican precinct committeemen who represent District 5 hosted a caucus Wednesday night at the county GOP headquarters and nominated Serven.

Democrat Jeff Jefferson defeated Serven in the November General Election. Serven now needs the approval of the full Knox County board, and if that happens, he'll serve out the remainder of Johnson's term that ends in 2010.
