An Impeachment "Breather" until Monday
It will be back to work Monday at noon for the 21 state representatives listening to testimony that could lead to a recommendation to impeach Governor Rod Blagojevich.

State Representative Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs), the top Republican on the committee, says the partisan division of the committee - 12 Democrats and nine Republicans - has not been a problem, now that the work is under way. "I've had very candid discussions with Majority Leader (Barbara Flynn) Currie, and she's agreed with me a lot," says Durkin of the committee's Democratic chairman. There had been complaints from the minority Republicans that the Democrats could block a potential subpoena a Republican wanted to issue.

State Representative Lou Lang (D-Skokie) says the committee's work has been professional and even offered a prediction: "My guess is that, in the end, there will be a report that's unanimous or close to unanimous." He would not go so far as to say what the recommendation would be.
