Holiday Gift Giving Ideas from Illinois Ag Officials
There's always the problem around the holiday season of what to give that special someone. Now the Illinois Department of Agriculture wants to help consumers out with their gift giving decisions.

The Agriculture Department has launched a web site to promote gift items and gift baskets that are available from Illinois food products companies.

The companies on the site offer items such as meat products, seasonings, jams, fine wines, coffees, candies and chocolates among other things.

Stacey Solano, spokeswoman from the Illinois Department of Agriculture says using agricultural business' helps promote sales of Illinois merchants. "Most people know about corn and soybeans and those types of products," Solano said. "But they don't stop to think about how many Illinois agribusinesses we have -- actually, a little over 1,500. This is just a great way to promote Illinois products and help Illinois agriculture."

Solano says there are roughly 160 Illinois companies listed on the web site and you can find something on there for everyone.
