Man Accused of Stealing Beer from Burned Out Quik Stop
A Galesburg man is accused of being at the scene of a gas station that went up in flames Friday, to steal beer from it.

Galesburg police reports indicate an officer on patrol noticing a man walking from his vehicle up to the site of the Quik Stop on West Losey Street around 2:50 Sunday afternoon, and was believed to be carrying two 40-ounce bottles of beer with him.

The report says the man, identified as 21-year old Khristopher Young, admitted to going into the Quik Stop and stealing not only the beer he was holding, but also several more containers of beer that were found in the back of his car.

The Quik Stop was destroyed by a fire, explosion, and accompanying roof collapse early Friday.

Young admitted he saw the yellow "caution" tape surrounding the facility, and that he knew he shouldn't have entered the property and taken the beer, but thought he could get away with it.

Young is charged with Burglary and is being held in the Knox County Jail.

In the meantime, officials have not released a cause to the Friday fire.
