Impeachment Committee Off Rest of Week
Work four days, take three off. Work one day, take six off. That's the schedule for the Illinois House Impeachment Committee, which is considering whether to recommend that Gov. Rod Blagojevich be impeached.

The governor's attorney, Ed Genson, requested a week off so he could persuade witnesses to defend the governor. Genson won't say whether Blagojevich will testify. Plus, the U.S. attorney's office hasn't responded about whether any witnesses that they interviewed in their criminal investigation could testify before the committee without hurting the criminal trial.

House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) had said the committee would take only four days off: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Now they're taking seven days off, and will be back Dec. 29.
