Chamber Concerned About Business Impact on Blago Arrest
Officials with the local business community say they're more than a little concerned about the recent arrest of Governor Rod Blagojevich accusing him of federal corruption.

Galesburg-Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Maus says that's because the business community has been hindered by some of the Governor's policies and procedures for a long time.

Maus tells WGIL specifically, how the state has chosen to pay its bills under the Blagojevich administration. "Delayed payments to all our local businesses who were supported through tax-based initiatives, and in particular the medical community, our pharmacies, many of our organizations who deal with challenged clients -- (Knox County Council for Developmental Disabilities), Bridgeway -- any number of those people, as well as our nursing homes," Maus said.

Maus says many of those budgets are predicated on state funds being released at a certain time, and haven't been for along time. And he says the Governor is to blame for that.

Maus says as concerned as he is about the charges brought forth against the Governor, he's more worried that the Governor's arrest is going to somehow delay those payments even further, making an already bad situation possibly even worse.
