Quinn Urges Donation of Frequent Flier Miles to Soldiers
An Illinois lawmaker is hoping that Illinois residents can provide help for family members of wounded service members. Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn is encouraging Illinoisans to donate their unused frequent flier miles to Operation Hero Miles.

Quinn says this program provides free airline tickets to moms, dads, and spouses of wounded heroes in Army medical centers around the world. He says that having a family member there at the service persons side is indispensable to the persons recovery. Quinn says this is a program that all Illinois residents should participate in.

"We really have to band together as a family in Illinois and in the United States, to take care of those who have born the battle," Quinn said.

Quinn says across the nation nearly 16-thousand tickets have been issued with an estimated savings of 21-million dollars to military families. Some airlines participating in the program include, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta, Northwest, and United Airlines. The call from Quinn comes at the end of the year when some frequent filer miles expire.

You can donate your miles online at www.fisherhouse.org or www.operationhomefront.org.
