Moffitt Says Impeachment Committe Working Hard
A local lawmaker says he's had the chance to sit in on some of the on-again, off-again hearings that are investigating whether or not impeachment proceedings should commence, and is pleased with how things are going.

State Representative Don Moffitt says he went to Springfield and watched some of the impeachment proceedings, which are now in recess again.

Moffitt tells W-G-I-L the process hinges now on whether or not the impeachment panel will be allowed to listen to recordings of some of Governor Rod Blagojevich's wiretapped phone calls.

"They feel they have the information that they need to proceed, it's just that would be additional information that can be helpful. So even if those tapes are not released or a portion of them, they (the committee) will be proceeding and I would expect at least by mid-January that there would be a recommendation from the committee."

Moffitt says that coincides with when lawmakers will be back in Springfield for the spring legislative session.

The Gilson Republican says he believes that Blagojevich attorney Ed Genson is probably a good attorney, but that doesn't mean he'll agree with the conclusions Genson reaches about his client.
