Fire Damages East Galesburg Home
Law enforcement officials were busy last night dealing with spinouts and accidents and to add to it, a house fire in East Galesburg.

Fire Department representatives from East Galesburg, and then Knoxville were called after 5:30pm Wednesday to 116 Arizona Avenue in response to a structure fire.

Fire officials said when they arrived on the scene the house was engulfed in flames and began to attack the fire from the outside. After the fire was knocked down a bit, they sent firefighters inside the house to look for pets that were reportedly inside the residence. Nobody was at home at the time of the fire as passers-by to the house reportedly called in the fire to the department. A neighbor on the scene didn't hear any explosions, or smell anything but said his son came in to tell him the neighbors house was on fire.

East Galesburg Fire Chief Rick Reed tells WGIL nobody was home at the time and describes the location of the fire in the house. "We contained it to most of the west half (of the house)," Reed said. "The upper level looked to be on fire the worst. That's where most of the flames were. We knocked those down."

There was no indication of how the fire started or how much damage had been done to the house. Reed also reported that they think they got all the pets out of the house. There were also no indications that weather was a cause to the fire.
