Monmouth Christmas Walk to be Held Tonight
An annual holiday event in Monmouth is making a return for another year after all, even if it is, organizers say, in a somewhat different form.

A number of Monmouth area businesses will be hosting a Christmas walk through the streets of the city's downtown this evening from five to eight. Prior to this year, the 21st annual event would have been known as Monmouth's Living Windows.

Organizer Dawn Schisler tells WGIL the holiday event almost didn't happen this year. "We got together as a group of downtown business owners and decided to keep the tradition alive this year," Schisler said. "We kind of had a short timeframe in planning it. We put it all together in about five or six weeks."

Schisler says the Monmouth Christmas Walk will be pretty much just like those Living Windows of years past: businesses with hot chocolate and other refreshments and the chance to win prizes. She says there also will be carriage rides, pictures with Santa Claus, and entertainment.

And yes, Schisler says visitors can expect some live window displays, too.
