Galesburg Now Has 5 Candidates For Mayor
A handful of Galesburg residents are now in the running to be the next Mayor of Galesburg. Galesburg resident and former city councilman Rollie Paulsgrove has decided to enter the race to lead the city. Paulsgrove says he decided to enter the race after incumbent Mayor Gary Smith announced he wouldn't be seeking another term. Paulsgrove says he was thinking about it for quite some time but thought Smith was doing a fine job, but since Smith is not seeking another term, he decided to go ahead to run for the position.

Paulsgrove wants to sustain quality of life in Galesburg says keeping the town safe is the only way to do so.

Paulsgrove has lived in Galesburg since he was 12 and has been an employee of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 29 years, and says he will be retiring in 14 months from BNSF and is looking for something to do. He also has served on the Galesburg City Council as a Ward 1 Alderman for 12 years and also as an Alderman in the 7th Ward before losing that spot to Mike Lummis in 2006. He says he still follows what goes on in the city council and says one of the biggest issues in the next term will be obtaining budget items with services getting harder to obtain. He thinks decisions will not be easy in the next couple of years but feels he ability to make those key decisions.

Paulsgrove will be running against Margaret Hall, Karen Lafferty, Sal Garza and Nathan Rockhold, to be the next Mayor of Galesburg.
