Get Into the Holiday Spirit with Annual Christmas Parade
The city officially welcomes the holiday season with the annual Christmas Parade today in downtown Galesburg. The parade will step off at 2 this afternoon. The parade will begin on Chambers Street, go west on Main Street, and head south to Cherry Street and ending at the Knox County Courthouse.

A least a dozen floats are expected to be seen along the route. More than sixty participants are expected to march through the parade with many more people watching along the route. Those entries in the Christmas parade will even be judged on seven different categories.

The parade caps off a holiday welcoming weekend that included festivities at the Orpheum Theatre, along Seminary Street, and at the Amtrak Depot, with the lighting of the steam engine.

Before the parade kicks off, Santa will become trapped and need to be rescued from First Bank at 101 East Main around 1:15. The Galesburg Fire Department will be leading the rooftop rescue to save the man that keeps the naughty and nice lists.

The Galesburg Police would like you to know that parking along the parade route is not allowed in order to provide a safer and more enjoyable viewing experience for all.

Be sure to say hello to WGIL's own Terry Cavanaugh and Will Stevenson who will be representing WGIL in the Christmas Parade.
