Proft Touts Enforcement of State Senator
The endorsement season continues, with even the lesser-known of the Republicans running for governor trying to get in on the act. Dan Proft, a consultant and commentator who is running for governor, is boasting the backing of Steve Rauschenberger.

The former state senator from Elgin who was a candidate for governor and U. S. Senate himself in past elections says he considers Illinois to be "the General Motors of 18 months ago." He says the state needs the kind of fundamental changes Proft promises -- more than, for example, buying office supplies wholesale.

Rauschenberger, a losing primary candidate in 2004 and 2006, is again running for state Senate, where he was known for his interest in finance and budget issues during the 1990s and the first half of this decade. His qualification to run as a Republican is now being contested because he voted in a municipal Democratic primary because his sister was a candidate.
