| Accused Shooter Makes Court Appearance |
The Galesburg teenager accused of shooting another man in late-October says he's not guilty of the charges a grand jury last month filed in the case.
17-year old Demetrius Hardrick made an appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Thursday morning where he made the not-guilty plea and also asked for a trial by jury. He faces three Class-X Felony Counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, and one-felony count each of Home Invasion, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Residential Burglary, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint.
Hardrick was arrested about a week after the October 24th incident at a home in the five-hundred block of West Second Street. Police say he allegedly went up to 20-year old Adam Pacheco and shot him the chest and shoulder area, but have not released too many other details, except that a bag allegedly containing cannabis was found near the home.
Pacheco was treated and released from a local hospital.
Circuit Judge Steven Bordner upheld a $1 million bond issued in the case, and set a March first pre-trial hearing, with a trial starting as soon as March 15th.
Two other men arrested in the case, 17-year old Terry Parker, Junior, and 24-year old Charles Graves, each face charges of Home Invasion, Residential Burglary, and Burglary, while Parker faces an additional Aggravated Unlawful Restraint charge.
Parker will be arraigned next Thursday, while Graves faces a pre-trial hearing January 9th. |
