Candidate for Governor Has No Opinion on State Borrowing
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale), running in the Republican primary for governor, has lots of ideas on how to shore up the state budget if he's elected governor. But he doesn’t have any advice for the Democrats who are currently in charge.

Gov. Pat Quinn wants to borrow $500 million to help the state pay bills, but Comptroller Dan Hynes is saying "no way," and Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias hasn't weighed in yet. Quinn needs both Hynes' and Giannoulias' approval to borrow.

Dillard says he hasn’t looked at the borrowing idea, and says it's up to the Democrats to figure out how to shorten the more than four-month backlog of unpaid bills, which totals $4.5 billion. He says the Democrats "are adults" and should figure out a way to get along and solve the problems.

Dillard is one of seven Republicans running for governor.
