Man Killed, Another Shot, by Peoria Police
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Authorities in Peoria one man is dead and the man believed to have shot him has been hospitalized after being shot by police at an apartment complex.

35-year-old Johnnie Whitehead was pronounced dead at his residence Monday morning about an hour after police were first called to the Timberland Apartments on Peoria's northwest side.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Whitehead died of multiple bullet wounds to his upper body.

Police say an officer later shot another Peoria man, 29-year-old David Brown Jr., in the arm and jaw after Brown allegedly fired at him through a doorway and then attempted to come out through a window with his gun still drawn. They say Brown fled back into the apartment, but later surrendered.

He was taken for treatment at OSF St. Francis Hospital.
