Galesburg Group Schedules Town Hall Meeting on December 15
A new way for the Galesburg area residents to come together and voice their concerns and interests continues Tuesday night at the Galesburg Public Library.

Starting in July, The People In Galesburg, a community action group dedicated to fostering a healthy discourse among the people of the Galesburg area, orchestrated the first open forum Town Hall meeting in Galesburg. Tuesday, December 15th, will be the fourth such event (2nd floor of the Galesburg Public Library from 6 - 7:30 PM). The Nurturing Neighborhood Action Group will be having its monthly meeting directly after the Town Hall meeting in The Center, 123 South Cherry Street.

The first three Town Hall Meetings (THMs) have been huge successes with over 170 attendees and many important issues being raised by the citizens of the region. In response to these meetings, five Action Groups have formed around issues brought up. These Action Groups (Hunger, Nurturing Neighborhoods, Youth Programming, Farmers' Market, and Race & Class Matters) have been meeting separately from the THMs and several have already made progress on very important fronts (including, educating people about city codes, determining who/where food is available for people in need, and identifying sources of external funding that can be sought for youth development). We urge people to get involved with these Action Groups and/or facilitate/create new ones.

Any and all Galesburg area residents are encouraged to attend and voice their concerns and opinions and have the opportunity to meet other individuals similarly dedicated to bettering our community. The meeting is dedicated to letting the people speak. In this vein, the forum will be organized to maximize opportunities for all attendees to speak, if they so choose. All political views and positions are welcome, with a willingness to listen respectfully to other people required.

For details about the Town Hall meeting's format, the specifics about the Action Groups, and any additional information - please visit our website at www.ThePeopleInGalesburg.org.

The People in Galesburg's mission is to create open discussion spaces where people's concerns become reality. We firmly believe that Galesburg can become the greatest place to live and we will make it so.
