Knox County Democrats Elect New Treasurer
The Knox County Democratic Central Committee has a new treasurer to replace a woman accused of stealing from the organization.

Chairman Norm Winick says the committee elected Lisa England of Gilson during a special meeting last week. England fills the vacancy resulting from the November 18th resignation of former treasurer Paula Monzo.

Monzo, the Knox County Recorder of Deeds, is charged with felony theft in Knox County for allegedly taking $3,500 in funds from the Knox County Democratic Central Committee over a one-year time period while serving as the committee's treasurer. She awaits more court appearances, including a preliminary hearing on January 26th.

Winick says England will serve out the remainder of the former treasurer's term, which expires at the County Convention on March 3rd, when officers for the Central Committee are elected by the precinct committeemen for a full 2-year term.

England has served the Knox County Democratic Party in various capacities over the past several years. Winick says that includes taking on the role as president of the Democratic Women of Knox County.

England works in Knox County Treasurer's office.
