Galesburg Man Pleads Guilty to Meth Charges
The Knox County State's Attorney's Office say a number of agencies worked together in order to essentially put a local man in jail for allegedly making methamphetamine.

State's Attorney John Pepmeyer's office says 41-year old Charles DeJaynes pleaded guilty in Knox County Circuit Court Wednesday to a Class-X felony charge of Possession of Methamphetamine, and was sentenced by Judge James Stewart to 15 years in prison.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers were called to a storage unit in the Hawthorne Center area in early August, after the owner of a storage company there discovered a man later identified as DeJaynes passed out in one of the sheds.

Police say they initially thought DeJaynes had passed out from moving furniture in an otherwise extremely hot shed, and tried multiple times to revive him.

A search of the shed and some book bags DeJaynes had allegedly turned up a number of items allegedly used in meth production, and some alleged finished meth.

In a statement, Pepmeyer credits Galesburg Police and the State Police Meth Response team with working together and conducting what he called a thorough investigation.
