U-S Senate Candidate Seeking President Obama's Former Seat Opposes Him on War
CHICAGO (AP) -- Democrat Cheryle Jackson wants President Barack Obama's old Senate seat, but she opposes his policy to send more troops to Afghanistan and is making that a cornerstone of her campaign.

Jackson previewed her first campaign ad online this week. It calls for the U.S. to leave Afghanistan and Iraq because the money spent there is desperately needed in America.

It's a high-profile break with Obama, who recently announced he would send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.

Jackson is competing in a crowded Democratic primary field as she tries to become the fourth black U.S. senator from Illinois.

Aaron Hughes of Iraq Veterans Against the War in Chicago says Jackson's message will appeal to soldiers returning home to a tough economy where it's hard for them to find jobs.
