Durbin Says Some Defense Spending Coming to Illinois
CHICAGO (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says more than $45 million in Illinois defense-related spending has been approved by the U.S. Senate.

The Illinois senator's office said Saturday that the federal funding now goes to President Barack Obama for his signature. The office says the funding is included in the defense spending bill.

Among the Illinois projects included in the bill are $7.2 million to build a research and manufacturing facility in Bolingbrook and $6.4 million to provide training equipment for the Illinois Army National Guard.

In addition, $4 million is to go to Rush University Medical Center in Chicago to develop the Center for Advanced Emergency Response and for a cooperative program between the hospital and the defense department.
