| Illinois Driver's Services Facilities' Hours Changing |
Secretary of State Jesse White is announcing that the driver's services winter hours program aimed at better serving customers will begin in December.
Starting the week of Monday, December 7, 2009, through Saturday, February 27, 2010, due to daylight savings time and to accommodate customers more efficiently, the facilities will be changing their hours by staying open during daytime hours. Late hours for facilities previously open at night one day a week will be eliminated during this time and facilities will open earlier on that day.
"Changing the hours gives us an opportunity to serve the public while it's still light out," White said. "We hope it makes it more convenient for them to take care of their business with us especially during the holiday season."
In the Chicago area, facilities that are open Tuesday through Saturday will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Friday. On Saturday they will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Chicago-area facilities that are open Monday through Friday will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. the other four days of the week.
Downstate facilities open Tuesday through Friday will now be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. On Saturday, facilities will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at noon.
Downstate facilities open Monday through Friday will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
