GOP Candidate for Governor Hits the Road
A Republican candidate for governor is using the final days of the year to do some campaigning across the state. DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom is making the rounds across Illinois and laying out his platform for reform in government, should he be elected governor.

Schillerstrom made stops in DeKalb, Rockford and Rock Island Tuesday and plans to stop in Quincy and the Metro East area Wednesday.

He says his "Out with the Old" tour highlights the importance of bringing new leadership to Springfield.

Speaking with residents of the areas he visited so far, Schillerstrom says the current leadership still hasn't learned from past mistakes, and pointed to the state's $11 billion budget deficit, double-digit unemployment and national reputation for corruption.

Schillerstrom says state government must work harder to deliver lower taxes, cut spending and make government more accountable.

Schillerstrom faces a number of Republicans in the primary including State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington), State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale), political pundit Dan Proft, former Republican state party leader Andy McKenna, businessman Adam Andrzejewski and former attorney general Jim Ryan.
