Hynes Continues to Tout Jobs Plan
The challenger in February's Democratic primary for governor is talking about revitalizing manufacturing in Illinois. Dan Hynes, the three-term state comptroller, gives as an example wind energy: he says it's part of the new economy in the state, but it would be nice if the wind turbines also were made in Illinois .

"I'm the only candidate talking about innovation and new jobs for a new economy," says Hynes, "and also the only candidate with a real plan to balance the budget so we can actually pay for these things."

Hynes says his proposal to raise income taxes should not be a turn-off to businesses, as, he says, the taxes would be raised on only the wealthiest Illinoisans.

Hynes used a series of news conferences around Illinois to roll out his Clean Start program for his primary campaign against Democratic incumbent Gov. Pat Quinn.
