State Pushes Job Creation Program
(IRN)-The state continues to look at ways to help people obtain employment.

Besides programs that provide loans to small businesses, Warren Ribley, director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, says there are other existing programs designed to help in job creation. He points to the Illinois small business job creation tax credit. The $2,500 tax credit is available to businesses with 50 or fewer employees that create new jobs between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.

There are other programs still being put together, including a jobs training program. Ribley hopes to see the program rolled out soon, which would help train those who lack basic jobs skills.

There is another program in the works that would have the state work with small contractors that would enable them to better compete for road construction contracts and public works contracts.
