Master Facilities Plan Tops School Board Agenda
The Galesburg School Board could officially put into motion the first phase of the district's multi-million dollar Master Facilities Plan tonight.

The District 205 board this evening will consider soliciting architects to work on the first phase of the plan dubbed "Operation Re-Build/Achieve," forming an advisory committee that will oversee the work, and will consider holding a hearing and filing the paperwork for the issuance of $16.5 million in bonds that will help pay for the first phase of the project, which includes myriad work to be done at Lincoln, Lombard, Steele, and Galesburg High Schools.

District 205 Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Guy Cahill says one of the main parts of phase one will focus on energy.

"These range from the geothermal retro fit to the existing steam heating system to create a effectively 21st century heating and cooling system in each of our buildings and at the same time save innumerable dollars in both the operational aspects of the heating and cooling plant but also in the consumption of energy and that fact that we're reducing our footprint."

The District 205 board tonight will also adopt the 2011 property tax levy request, and hear a presentation on student attendance in light of the district's new taxpayer funded anti-truancy program, when the board meets at seven o'clock tonight at Lincoln School.
