1 Dead, 1 Injured After Small Plane Crash in IL
WHEELING, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois State Police and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate a small plane crash in suburban Chicago that left one person dead and another injured.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro says there were two people on board the single-engine aircraft which took off from Chicago Executive Airport Wednesday afternoon in Wheeling. The airport is around 30 miles northwest of Chicago.

Molinaro says after the plane was about a half mile away from the airport, the pilot reported an issue with the engine and requested to land.

Wheeling officials say the pilot turned the plane back and it crashed in a nearby parking lot after making contact with a building.

Village officials say the injured person was reported in critical condition.
