Peoria Investigates 22nd Homicide of 2010
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Authorities in Peoria have identified the city's 22nd homicide victim of 2010.

The Journal Star reports that the Peoria County coroner on Monday identified the victim as 20-year-old Michael Malone. The coroner says Malone was shot multiple times as we was walking in an alley. Malone died while in surgery at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Officers responding to a call found him in an alley lying in the snow.
The newspaper reports that the 22 homicides this year make 2010 the most violent year on record for Peoria in more than 20 years. There were 23 homicides in 1989..
