Six Alleged Armed Robbers Make First Court Appearance
The six men arrested in Galesburg last week for alleged armed robberies were in court Monday.

Galesburg police believe the six men have been involved in a number of armed robberies in Galesburg this year.

All six men were appointed separate public defenders and made first appearances in court.

Five of the six were able to schedule preliminary hearings for the afternoon of January 18th.

Jekorey Green, 18 of Detroit, Michigan, however, will continue his first appearance on January 5th, as his attorney, Thomas Pepmeyer, is on vacation and unable to consult with Green. A substitute lawyer stepped in to request the continuance.

All the men, including 21 year old Byan Vann, 20 year old Searcy Boyd, 17 year old Seville Boyd, all of Galesburg and 20 year old Albert Prater and 17 year old Shane Tatum, both of Skokie, are charged with Armed Robbery, a Class X felony.

Prater also faces three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and Vann one count of the same charge, which is a Class 3 felony.

The audience in court was so crowded for the men and other courthouse patrons, the hearings for four of the men was forced to move from the traffic courtroom to the large courtroom on the second floor of the Knox County Courthouse.
