Death Toll High for Police Officers in 2010
(IRN)-Illinois has had a rough year when it comes to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The total for the year, barring any further in these final days, is 10, up from three last year.

Of the 10 who died, four were shot to death, four were killed in car crashes, and two died of injuries sustained in assaults. Five were Chicago police, two with the Illinois Department of Corrections, and one each with Wyoming, Cowden and Cook County departments.

Illinois officers killed in 2010:

-Senior Parole Agent Ellane E. Aimiuwu, Illinois Department of Corrections, Feb. 7, automobile accident
-Sgt. Alan J. Haymaker, Chicago Police Department, Feb. 22, automobile accident
-Officer Thomas E. Wortham IV, Chicago Police Department, May 20, gunfire
-Officer Thor Odin Soderberg, Chicago Police Department, July 7, gunfire
-Officer Michael R. Bailey, Chicago Police Department, July 18, gunfire
-Chief of Police William T. Bauer, Wyoming Police Department, Aug. 6, automobile accident
-Officer Jeremy J. Hubbard, Cowden Police Department, Aug. 10, vehicle pursuit
-Correctional Officer Tracy Cooper, Illinois Department of Corrections, Sept. 28, assault
-Police Officer Dwayne Parks, Cook County, Stroger Hospital Police Department, Nov. 23, assault
-Officer Michael R. Flisk, Chicago Police Department, Nov. 26, gunfire
