Remembering Rich Myers
Two local lawmakers who worked closely with the late State Representative Rich Myers are remembering him fondly.

"I have been a long time friend of Rich Myers, we first got to know each other when we where in Young Farmers together in Farm Bureau and would attend meetings and debate and discussion meets, and so we got to know each other then, and of course have both served in the legislature."

State Representative Don Moffitt says they had shared legislative interests, things like agriculture and transportation. Moffitt's district included Warren County until 2002, at which time Myers took over.

On the floor of the Illinois Senate Thursday, Rushville State Senator John Sullivan said his longtime colleague and friend took great pride in education issues.

"He was a very strong support of education, especially he beloved Western Illinois University in Macomb. Rich lived just outside of Macomb in Colchester and he took great pride he was, he attended Western Illinois University and really worked hard for that university."

The Rushville Democrat says he and the Republican from Colchester worked plenty on issues together, saying it wasn't uncommon for one to carry the other's bills in their particular chamber.

Myers died Wednesday night after a battle with prostate cancer at the age of 62.
