A Look Back at Those Lost in the Region in 2010.
Top local stories of 2010 included a few unfortunate good byes this year.
As we remember the events of the past year, we remember those who won't be joining us in years to come.

Local politician and newspaper man Norm Wincik passed away recently after a battle with cancer.

His death coincided with the very last publication of The Zephyr which he worked on for 21 years.

And as Zephyr sports editor John Ring told WGIL at the time, the last edition was basically a tribute to Winick.

"In our final issue he talks about what happened, the treatment he's had, some of the decisions he's made, and that's going to answer really everybody's questions on that. He was very open and very honest, which he always is."

Winick, among many other activities was chair of the Knox County Democratic Party, and fellow officer Louisa Buck says he'll be missed.

"He was a man who will be terrible missed by so many different parts of the community."

A replacement for Winick as chair of the party has yet to be found.
Services for Winick were held earlier this month and were attended hundreds of people, even Governor Pat Quinn.

This year, 94th state Representative Rich Myers and local radio host Jack Larson passed away as well.
