Changes in Galesburg Over 2010
The city of Galesburg saw a major shake up this year.

On our list of top stories of 2010: the exit of Dane Bragg as Galesburg's city manager.

Bragg announced in July he would be leaving Galesburg after nearly three years and taking a position in Buffalo Grove.

The August move came just as city officials were beginning budget preparations.

"My main concern is that we have so many major projects underway at this time that we want to make sure that we don't make any missteps in any of those projects and that we ensure a solid leadership and organizational management. Right about the time that I leave is going to be the time that the council will begin discussing the 2011 budget so we're going to need to make sure we have some leadership there to help them guide through that process."

Bragg was replaced by interim city manager Craig Whitehead who had previously worked in Peoria.

Whitehead recently left for another position in Utah and city officials, after a lengthy search, recently hired Todd Thompson to fill the position permanently come January.
