DUI Lands Man Over a Decade in Prison.
An Alexis man arrested in March for a host of drunk driving charges but eventually pleaded guilty to one, has received a lengthy prison sentence.

That's according to Knox County State's Attorney John Pepmeyer, who says 50 year old Jon Ahline pleaded guilty in October to a Class-X felony county of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and was handed a 15 year prison sentence Wednesday.

Ahline was originally arrested on charges that also included DUI, and driving on a revoked license.

Galesburg Police reportedly came across Ahline in March after he was found lying next to his van behind the Knox County YMCA on Carl Sandburg Drive, and that it appeared he had fallen out of the van after driving there from his Alexis home, and suffered an injury in the process.

Police say records checked indicated it was his eighth DUI arrest, but Pepmeyer says it was only the man's sixth violation. Assistant State's Attorney Josh Versluys says in a statement that earlier court sentences ordering treatment and counseling clearly did not work, so the stiff sentence was necessary.
